[디트로이트(미국)=AP/] 미국프로야구 최강자를 가리는 미국 메이저리그(MLB)월드 시리즈에서 샌프란시스코 자이언츠가 4전 전승으로 2년 만에 정상 탈환에 성공했다. 

28일(현지시각) 미국 미시간주 디트로이트에 위치한 코메리카 파크에서 펼쳐진 '2012 MLB 월드시리즈 4차전'에서 홈팀 디트로이트 타이거스는 샌프란시스코 자이언츠에 3-4로 패하며 우승 트로피를 내줬다. 

이날 샌프란시스코는 7전 4승제 월드시리즈에서 3승을 올린 유리한 상황에서 경기를 시작했다. 양팀 간 팽팽한 접전 끝에 3-3 동점의 상황에서 연장 10회, 샌프란시스코 타자 마르코 스쿠타로의 결승타가 1점을 추가하며 4-3 승리를 거뒀다. 

샌프란시스코는 이번 대회 우승으로 지난 2010년 우승 이후 2년 만에 정상 탈환에 성공했고 지난 뉴욕 자이언츠 시절을 포함, 통산 7회 월드시리즈 우승 축배를 들었다.
