VANCOUVER, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Supporters of the Occupy Vancouver movement vowed Tuesday to continue fighting against corporate greed and economic inequality, although the scale has dwindled.

As the movement entered its fourth day on Tuesday, the number of protesters has decreased ¡¡¡¡from 5,000 people on Saturday to about 200.
Yet the protesters, who have camped in about 50 tents outside a local art gallery in downtown Vancouver, vowed to stay "for however long it takes."

There has been a lot of community support for the movement, such as donations of food, shelter, blankets and tents, said J.J. Wagler, a 22-year-old musician who plans to stay a couple of weeks to "see how things unfold."

"I'm sure it will pick up on the weekend again with more people coming out," he added. The leaderless protesters have been staging frequent general assemblies each day in the presence of a noticeable number of police and fire inspectors.

The protesters voiced their anger on topics ranging ¡¡¡¡from environment destruction to government bailouts to the evils of the global banking system.

A protester calling himself Captain Sweep said that despite the dwindling numbers, the mood of the camp was boosted by "a very strong ¡¡¡¡group of people going through the process of how to self-organize."

On Monday, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson told a local newspaper that the protesters could continue their occupation indefinitely if there was no violence and the site, which features a makeshift kitchen and portable toilets, did not become a public health issue.

"I think everyone's waiting to see what takes shape in terms of outcomes and agendas. There is a lot of energy around it and it has yet to be seen what results ¡¡¡¡from this," he said.
